Casa Manila

Manila House

Casa Manila is one of the most popular tourist spots in Intramuros, Manila. It has a museum depicting colonial lifestyle during Spanish colonization of the Philippines. It showcases the period furniture coming from Chinese, European and Philippine origins. It is located at Plaza San Luis Complex, Cor. Real & General Luna St. Intramuros, Manila.

Casa Manila was one of the several grand houses dating back to 1850 in Barrio San Luis. It features the domestic life of the upper-class (ilustrados) family Filipino in the 19th century. Mostly those who became wealthy due to trading occupied by these mansions. This Spanish-architecture inspired stone-wood colonial house is remarkable in the old Manila. Previously said museum is a replica of the 1850s San Nicolas House that once stood on Calle Jaboneros. Nearby infrastructures are also similar to its design. Indeed, a stroll in Casa Manila Museum is undeniably momentous.

MY EXPERIENCE: CASA MANILA

If you are looking for vintage and historical-like places, Casa Manila is one of these that you must visit. I find this place very admirable, especially its structures. In fact, many tourists visit this place just to take pictures of the famous structures along this street. The painted walls, carved traceries, crystal chandeliers, Chinese ceramics, and gilded furniture show the luxury of the 19th century era. It is very interesting, especially the ages of some antique pieces displayed in the museum, the history of the pretty ancient fountain, and also the reflection of elegance and the luxurious lifestyle of our Filipino elites back in the Spanish colonial period. Some may find it boring, but if you are curious and fond of history, this place is highly recommended.
